OLD HABERDASHERS GOLF SOCIETY
The Old Haberdashers’ Golfing Society welcomes golfers of all standards, whether members of a golf club with an official handicap or occasional social players. We are always trying to increase membership, so if you play golf and would like to get involved with the OHGS, then please get in touch.
The club holds 3 Golf Days each year as well as competitions against other Old Boys teams and a pub! The Golf Days (Spring, Summer and Winter) are open competitions where all members are welcome and involve stableford (individual and team) competitions. In total, we run 6 or 7 events a year - the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly with the fixtures being enjoyed by all participants.
The matches against other teams are managed by a member who selects his team from those members available.
(The low handicapped members also play in the annual national Public Schools Old Boys competition, the Grafton Morrish, where our team reached the last 16 in 2006, 2009 and 2010.)
The ‘Dr Alan Morris Matchplay Championship’ was introduced in 2016, in memory of Alan who passed away in December 2015. Alan was President of the Society at the time of his death but served as Secretary and Treasurer for many years, spending much time maintaining all aspects of the Society.
The OHGS is trying to attract new members and to encourage contemporaries to contact each other and to come to some or all of the Golf Days.
To this aim, the Society will also be delighted to welcome non - Old Haberdashers’, if proposed by an existing OHGS member. Please us know of any friends who you feel would enjoy being an active part of the OHGS and details will be e-mailed to them. Membership is great value at £10 per year (£15 after 1st May.)
We look forward to welcoming you to OHGS events. Please see the contact details below and we would be very pleased to hear from you.
