A message from the President, Jon Corrall.

A very warm welcome to all visitors to the web site of the Old Haberdashers Association, the association of former pupils of Haberdashers Askes Boys School now based in Elstree, Herts, UK.

The Association offers an opportunity for former pupils to maintain or renew contact with their contemporaries; whether by attending social events or reading/contributing to the literature produced by the Association. In respect of the latter, the annual magazine, Old Boys Notes, includes a wealth of information about the wide range of activities currently undertaken by the Association, as well as a variety of relevant articles. It incorporates News From Elstree, a summary of events at the School in the past 12 months.

As we look ahead as an Association, one of our major objectives is to be more relevant to the needs of former pupils and thus to increase our active membership significantly. The principal means of achieving this will be to provide our members with a sufficient variety of activities, both sporting and nonsporting, to encourage regular support. There is a huge range of pursuits not reflected in the Associations schedule at present, from drama and music to tennis and hockey, from travel and writing to chess and bridge, and we are planning to broaden our focus on the desires of recent and not so recent leavers to attract them into active participation in the Association.

The Association is not just a meeting place for sports players but a facility for all members to enjoy, and this web site is intended as a catalyst for a change in the ways in which the Old Boys meets the needs of its members and potential members. The web, E-Newsletters and email offer new ways to achieve this aim. If you are a member and we are failing in this objective, please let me know and suggest ways in which we can do better.

Jon Corrall, President
