OHA Annual Dinner: Thursday 16th May 2013 at Haberdashers’ Hall

In this, the 125th Anniversary of the OHA, it is with particular pleasure that I invite you to the highlight of the OHA social calendar, the Annual Dinner, to be held once again in the distinguished surroundings of Haberdashers’ Hall on Thursday 16th May at 6.30pm for 7pm. The dress is dinner jackets.

To mark the event, we are delighted to have secured as our principal guest speaker Ben Gunn CBE QPM. Ben served in the counter-terrorism unit of the Metropolitan Police before becoming Chief Constable of Cambridgeshire until his retirement in 2002. Now an independent regulatory director of the British Horseracing Authority, he has also advised the National Trust and the Gambling Commission and his wealth of interesting, varied experience is sure to entertain after dinner.

In addition, we will hear from Seb Taylor (OH 2000), captain of the OHRFC 1st XV, to give his perspective on the recent triumphs of the club and the OHA in its birthday year. To toast the occasion, this year we extend a warm invitation to all wives and partners as well, to enable them to share our celebrations – and to thank them for putting up with us!

The dinner includes reception drinks and a full three-course meal, with all wines and port included. The ticket price for this splendid occasion ranges from £50 to £85 (see reply sheet for details). The Hall is situated within easy walking distance of Farringdon station. We have listened to feedback from previous years’ dinners and I am pleased to say this year there will be more wine and shorter speeches!

In addition, every diner will be entered into a raffle with the opportunity of winning their dinner for free. Late closing on the pub next to the Hall has again been arranged to allow even more time for socialising after the dinner.

As a special incentive, OH who are not members but join now by direct debit will receive their dinner for the members’ rate, including an introductory rate of just £5 for 2013 leavers (see reply form for details

Reply Form 2013 Dinner

Demand will be high for the dinner and I ask that you reply using the enclosed reply form promptly, and in any event by the 10th May, to secure your place. I look forward to welcoming you to what will surely be another highly successful Annual Dinner. Please do bring a group and make a night of it!

Anyone interested in travelling to and from The Haberdashers’’ Hall from the Bushey/Radlett area should email tonyalexander1@sky.com within the next couple of weeks, at this stage he can’t give an actual price as numbers are not known, expect it to be about £12.00 return.
