Michael McLAUGHLIN (Maths Department) retired in 1997
Michael joined the Maths Department 21 years ago. For some years, Michael was Housemaster of Meadows. Many Old Haberdashers will remember his advice and counselling with respect and devotion. Following on from the character of Eric Carrington was not easy but Michael quickly stamped his own personality on the job and he was seen to be a sincere, modest and hard-working man.
He ran the Aeromodelling Club but his main extra curricular gift has been to the Electronics Society. As a School and Community Service activity, he has taken hundreds of boys to visit patients at Harperbury Hospital. In computing and mathematics teaching, Michael has been an inveterate hard worker. He has encouraged staff to try different approaches to the subject and always with his delightful sense of humour.
We wish him and his wife ever happiness in retirement.
