THE OLD HABERDASHERS' ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL CLUB
OHAFC has a new web site of its own containing news and match reports.
Captain: John Barton
OHAFC is probably the newest of the Old Haberdashers Associations sporting
ventures, having been set up as recently as 1993 by Andy Evans and Matt Regan. Since 1994,
the Club has been a member of the Arthurian League, a league made up of similar old boys
teams which is reputed to be the oldest organised league in the world! The opposition is
made up of old boys teams from schools such as Aldenham, Eastbourne, Malvern, Winchester,
Eton and Harrow.
The league, in our opinion, is an excellent league in which to play as the football is
competitive but fair and all the teams endeavour to play attractive football. The Club
currently runs two teams - the 1st XI have been champions of the First and Second
Divisions of the League in their brief history and also spent a season in the Premier
League.
We are a friendly club who enjoy our football and are keen to welcome new players. We hold
various social events throughout the season and have been on a Club Tour to such far flung
destinations as Prague and Cardiff(!). The Club caters for a wide range of playing
abilities, from those who have played for their University First Team to those who have
hardly played since leaving school, and all are welcome. Last season we were lucky enough
to have two 1998 leavers, James Richardson and Steve Jameson, join us to play for the 1st
XI before they went travelling - it was really good to have them on board and if there are
more of you out there keen to play, please do get in touch. It may be that you are taking
some time off before University, would like to play during your University vacations or
have returned to the area after finishing college - whatever the reason it would be good
to hear from you. If you would like to find out more, please contact either John Barton
(020 7627 0967 or 07970 016321) or Richard Paffley (01923 855607). We look forward to
hearing from you.
